Parent Leader Highlight – Velia Huerta

Ms. Velia Huerta is a proud parent to 5 beauiful children in Oceanside, California.

To me, parent leadership means being a voice not only for my child but for other parents who feel unheard. It’s about stepping up, even when it feels scary, and making sure that our children have the best opportunities, no matter the obstacles we face. It’s showing resilience, strength, and determination to create a better future for our kids and our community.

Supporting Families and Children in Nepal L4T is excited to have signed an MOU with Ram Tiawri, the Director of Inclusive Education Nepal (IEN), a nonprofit organization located in Kathmandu. The foundational principle of IEN is, 'Every child matters, not because of who they are, but because they are. When every learner is seen, heard and valued, transformation occurs.' Our partnership aims to foster safe and supportive home and school environments for all children, including children with disabilities and those in marginalized communities. We expect to begin a pilot Family Hui group in late 2025 or early 2026.
