Lead4Tomorrow in Rwanda

Beginning in 2017, L4T trained 20 Family Hui group leaders followed by a pilot hui with a subset of the trained leaders. Family Hui program materials were successfully translated into the Kinyarwanda language to make the materials more accessible for more participants.
During the early part of 2018, trained Family Hui group leaders participated in a second round of training to ensure they had a complete understanding of the program as they initiated additional hui pilots. Hui have been conducted on an ongoing basis since then.
In early 2021, L4T and L4T Rwanda opened a Family Hui nursery school in Kigali. Along with a similar effort in Dar es Salaam with L4T Tanzania, these Family Nursery Schools represent a watershed event for our East Africa Initiative. By piloting the two schools, a model has been developed which can be scaled in each country and which directly connect multi-generational parenting with child, educational and leadership development.

During 2023, a training was conducted at the school to help hui participants learn more about raising poultry and growing gardens to provide nutrition for their families. More than 140 hui participants attended this training. Also, cooperatives have formed among hui participants to support income generation as well as enhanced nutrition.

During 2024, L4T Rwanda received its permanency certificate which provides the foundation for its long-term future as an organization. This also has paved the way for purchasing the school property (resulting from a generous private donation) which contributes to the sustainability and operational efficiency of the school. This is a major milestone for L4T Rwanda.
